GEORGE

George came into our family life on July 23th, 2003. It was really God's blessing that we are entrusted with a healthy baby boy, born in RS Pondok Indah, Jakarta.

Two year before, in 2001, Rosa went to operation due to heavy bleeding and one of her fallopian tubes was uplifted for safety reason. According to the medical doctor, the chance of having a new baby is only left 30% and we did not give too much hope. Therefore it was a nice miracle that Rosa confirmed pregnant again in October 2002. And the baby was a boy, which we named him George Patrick Gunawan. The first name, George, has a meaning as "courageous" with reference to George Washington, the founding father of USA, George Bush, the current president of the US, and George Soros, a famous name in the financial world.

George is now a strong and happy kid, very active being a K1 pre-schooler at one of SIS (Singapore International School) center in South Jakarta. We plan to provide a good education despite of high cost required going to an international curriculum school. It is really an early and upfront investment to my kids to have good education, hoping to be able to equip George (and Jillian) with necessary skills in future hyper competitive environment.

JILLIAN

JILLIAN is my one and only daughter. She was born in Vancouver, BC Canada on 25th July, 1999. My wife and I love her so much since her first day in life. In fact Jillian was the greatest blessing in our life (despite of the fact we sometimes forget or neglect about this gift from God).

We named her "Jillian" as this is a nice name I found when I was reading in the Community Center at Richmond, BC Canada. The meaning is "joy", "jovial"; if only she was a boy, I should have named him "William" adopting a role model name from Bill Gates and Bill Clinton. Since she was a baby girl we picked up the name "Jillian" hoping that she will become a strong, independent and happy person when growing up.

Jillian goes to a catholic primary school, grade 3. I fetch Jillian going to school every morning, before I go on to office. My wife will then fetch her after finishing class everyday. That's how we manage to take care and carry out our daily routine, making sure Jillian has the education she need to grow and be independent in future.

Besides Jillian, we also have one and only son, George. His name was adopted from strong man in US, Mr President HE George Bush and strong man in financial world, George Soros. I will post more stories about Jillian and George in my next blog. Stay tune!

MY VERY FIRST BLOG

When I was in high school, I used to write in a personal diary to express my feeling & opinion about anything experienced throughout the day. I had plenty of time to do it because I lived in a boarding house nearby the school, dating back in early eighties.

Godshh, it was over 25 years ago!!! Time flies .... I am now married with one daughter of 8 and one son of 4; I have graduated from college in 1988 & started working as a Marketing Trainee in a multinational company. It has been almost two decades since my first job, today I am still engaged in Marketing, holding directorship position in a high profile public listed company based in Jakarta.

Social networking, internet communication, blogging ... all of this technological revolution has enabled us to communicate in such a way and mean we cant never imagine before. Thanks to all those IT genius such as Bill Gates, Jerry Yang, who has allowed us living in a global village, where we can meet & greet, share & tear, browse & cruise through the internet exhibiting our personal life to people all over the world.

Being my very first blog, you may find my story is jumping all over the places. I hope you don't mind for I will improve very fast from now on. Please stay tune for more nice stories.
